About the Meetings

There is no religious affiliation connected to the meetings or to Eckhart’s teachings. The purpose of these meetings is to explore Eckhart’s work through videos of his talks and retreats — in meditation, in silence, and through dialogue.

Meetings are free of charge. They are held on the last Sunday of each month near High Falls, New York, (between New Paltz and Kingston) from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Silent Meetings

Eckhart has requested that meetings be conducted entirely in silence. We arrive, sit, and leave in silence. During these meetings we don't serve refreshments and there is no social interaction. We also encourage participants to keep silence as long as practical after the meeting concludes.

Social Gatherings

Every so often, we offer folks the chance to ask questions, hang out, get to know each other, eat some good food, and talk about Eckhart and our individual spiritual journeys. The format is similar to the silent meetings, but we engage in spiritually-oriented dialogue after the teaching.

It's a good idea to be aware of how easily one’s ego can emerge in social meetings; part of one's exploration can include vigilance in social situations.

If someone has an urgent question, we are available during the week, or before, during, or after social gatherings, via email or phone.

Weekend Retreats

We periodically offer weekend retreats, which are structured in a similar way to retreats with Eckhart. The schedule includes two videos each day, periods of silence, dialogue, body- and energy-sensing, vegetarian meals, meditation, conversation, walks in nature, etc.
